The Allergy Society of Tanzania (ASOT) held a World Allergy Training School (WATS) in Arusha, Tanzania on 20 November 2025.
WATS is part of the World Allergy Organization’s (WAO) Emerging Societies Program (ESP), with the objective to develop learning communities appropriate to a specific regional context while strengthening existing knowledge and skills for treating all allergic diseases. The WATS are made possible through the support of WAO and the American College of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology (ACAAI).
The international WATS faculty included allergy experts from the United States, Kenya, South Africa, and Uganda. Dr. Jim Tracy (United States), Dr. Elizabeth Kiragu (Kenya), Prof. Michael Levin (South Africa), and Dr. Hellen Tukamuhebwa Aanyu participated in this WATS alongside the local organizers from the ASOT, Dr. Kassim Babu Mapondela (Tanzania) and Dr. Jude Tarimo (Tanzania).
40 individuals attended the WATS, representing Tanzania, Somalia, and Malawi.
