St. Petersburg, Russia: 2-3 July 2016

St. Petersburg WATS
July 2016

The first WATS for 2016 took place in St. Petersburg, Russia on 2-3 July 2016 in conjunction with the IX World Asthma, Allergy, and COPD Forum and the X CIS Congress on Allergology and Immunology at the Park Inn Pribaltiyskaya Hotel. Invited WAO attendees came from Russia, Georgia, Mongolia, and other surrounding countries.

The WATS program presented 4 lectures on the topics of asthma, drug allergy, allergy skin testing and immunotherapy, and food allergy, 2 workshops on allergy skin testing and pulmonary function testing, and 3 case studies on food allergy, drug allergy, and asthma over 6 ½ hours for the 25 doctors in attendance. Professors Ignacio Ansotegui, Mario Sanchez Borges, and Dana Wallace participated as WAO representatives.

Dr. Bryan Martin participated as President of the ACAAI by giving a lecture, a case study, and assisting with the workshop. Dr. Sami Bahna assisted on behalf of the ACAAI by presenting a case study. Professors Revaz Sepiashvili and Tatiana Slavyanskaya were the local organizers and coordinators and served as moderators. The attendees were very appreciative and requested that we return for another school in regions outside of Russia, where such training is desperately needed. To show appreciation for the participation in the WATS and the CIS Congress, all WATS faculty members were awarded an honorary membership in the World Immunopathology Organization.

We are in the process of obtaining program evaluation forms and feedback on our educational program. Upon return of the evaluation forms by the attendees, the lecture slide handouts will be provided on a password protected section of our website. If you attended and did not receive an evaluation form, please send an email to our WATS program coordinator, Amanda Hegg: Esta dirección de correo electrónico está siendo protegida contra los robots de spam.
