Bangkok, Thailand: 11 October 2018
The Emerging Societies Program (ESP), a joint program of the World Allergy Association (WAO) and American College of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology (ACAAI), held a World Allergy Training School (WATS) in Bangkok, Thailand on 11 October 2018, with over 65 participants from Thailand, Indonesia, Singapore, China, and Japan in attendance.
The WATS was hosted at the Joint Congress of the Asia Pacific Association of Allergy Asthma and Clinical Immunology (APAAACI) and the Asia Pacific Association of Pediatric Allergy, Respirology and Immunology (APAPARI), with the Association of Allergy Immunology of Thailand (AAIAT). The theme of the Congress was, Novel Therapies, Prevention and Integrated Actions: Towards Improved Patient Care. The international faculty included Professors Ignacio J. Ansotegui (Spain), Mario Sanchez Borges (Venezuela), Ruby Pawankar (Japan), Ticha Rerkpattanapipat (Thailand), and Dana Wallace (United States).
The program featured a combination of lectures and workshops on allergen skin testing and immunotherapy, asthma, drug allergies, skin allergies, food allergies, and anaphylaxis. The best part of the day was the enthusiasm and excitement in the eyes of the participants as they acquired new practical skills and found answers for their clinical questions. Not a single participant left the day before the last presentation was over—a tribute to their dedication and the excellent faculty.
